    About the Instructor:

During the COVID lockdown in 2020, Tami Duquette discovered sashiko through an instructor in Japan and immediately fell in love with the craft. She went on to study sashiko for four years in monthly classes with her teacher, Kazue, learning not only stitching techniques but also the history, language, and many applications of sashiko. With her instructor’s blessing, Tami has been sharing her knowledge by teaching sashiko workshops in the Detroit area for the past two years. She describes sashiko as deeply meditative and often spends quiet evenings stitching by hand.
