Daruma Sashiko Samplers by DARUMA
These pre-printed sashiko samplers are a perfect starting point — or a satisfying next project for anyone already hooked on the craft. Each 13¼" x 13¼" square of 100% cotton kitchen cloth (sarashi) comes printed with a pattern you stitch directly over. When you're done, simply wash away the printed lines and you're left with a beautifully finished piece.
Three sampler styles are available as separate variants:
Continuous Traditional Patterns (Styles 1001–1008 in White; 1201–1208 in Navy) — Classic geometric designs rooted in Japanese textile history: Wave Crest, Hemp Leaf, Seven Treasures, Mountain Range, and more. Each pattern is deeply satisfying to work and carries its own story. One Sashiko Thread Card is enough to complete most of these.
Single-Stitch Patterns (Styles 1101–1164, White) — A meditative technique where vertical, horizontal, and diagonal stitches build into a pattern as you go. A mix of traditional and original designs, including some playful options like Skull, Invader, and Butterfly. Most require at least 2 thread cards.
Grid Guides (10G5 White; 12G5 Navy) — Blank 5mm grid for designing your own patterns from scratch.
Finished samplers make wonderful dish towels, napkins, or gift wrapping. English and Japanese instructions are included in every package.
Important: Do not wash or steam until stitching is complete — the printed pattern will wash away!
