The Geweef Shal is rectangular and begins with an icord & worked on the bias.
From the designer, Karen Cronje ~ “As a dyer, there is nothing better than the feel of gorgeous merino yarn and luscious color spilling through your hands, and what better challenge than to combine multiple yarn bases and color options in a single coherent design! For this design, I wanted to incorporate a range of color types (semi-solid, speckled or variegated) and combine them with a variety of bases and stitches.
In my mother tongue, ‘geweef’ translates as ‘woven’, and the word ‘saamgeweef’ or ‘woven together’ has a particular meaning for me in this design. Not only is this book a collaborative ‘weaving together’ of ideas and people, but the original inspiration and design elements weave together a myriad of eclectic cultural references and indigenous forms of knowledge and making. Geweef hopes to translate these vibrant patterns and textures to your needles in a playful and textured manner, with the possibility of creative color-mixing and color combination.”
