Sandnes Garn Tynn Silk Mohair
The yarn every pattern keeps asking for.
If you knit anything designed in the last five years, you've read the line: "held together with one strand of Tynn Silk Mohair." This is that yarn. 57% mohair, 28% silk, 15% wool — thin, weightless, and doing three jobs at once.
Held alongside Sunday, Double Sunday, or Atlas, it adds a soft halo, deepens the color, and gets you to gauge on a two-strand pattern. Pair it tonally for a quiet glow, or go contrast and let the two colors blur into a shade neither yarn owns on its own.
The wool content is the part people don't expect. Most kid mohair blends are mohair and silk, full stop. That bit of wool gives this one resilience and body, so the fabric has some spring instead of collapsing into pure fluff. The silk carries the shine and holds everything together through the brushing.
On its own, it's a chameleon. Knit it tight on 3mm for a dense, fuzzy fabric, or open it up on 5mm for something sheer you can see daylight through. Two or three strands held together makes a cloud of a sweater that weighs almost nothing.

A note on ripping back: mohair grips. If you need to undo a section, pop the piece in the freezer for an hour first — the fibers stiffen and let go much more willingly.
