Doodle Deck Colorwork

$ 45.00

2 in stock.

Pre-Requisite: You have completed at least 3 projects.  You are familiar with the long tail cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, binding off, and knitting in the round.

Course Overview: Desire to improve your knitting skills is a priority for this class. This class will use the Basic Doodle Card deck to introduce knitters to stranded colorwork knitting and how to plug the motifs into patterns. Stranded knitting is a traditional style of using color to achieve contrast in knitting motifs/designs. It is knitted by using at least two colors and carrying the yarn along the wrong side of knitting. Before class, select the size, a Main Color & Contrast Color of yarn for headband. I encourage you to select a small pattern size headband for the ease of the class.

Learning Points:

  • Stranded knitting
  • Reading a chart
  • Organizing motif
  • Review your colors

Class Supplies: must be purchased from Ewe-nique Knits
  • Yarn: DK, light worsted, or sport weight (we recommend Vintage Baby, Weepaca, or Lore). Yardage depends on size chosen.
  • Needles: 16" US 5 (or size to get gauge) and 16" US 4 (or one size smaller than gauge needle for ribbing)
  • Basic Doodle Card Deck
  • Doodles Headband pattern by Jamie Lomax

Homework: Complete knitting the 1X1 ribbing in main color for lower brim of your headband per pattern directions. Bring to class and be ready to learn the technique of stranded knitting with a motif pattern selected by the instructor from the deck.
